Holidays Languedoc

Some comments from the Visitors Books

We've self-catered in France many times but our stay in Marseillette with Ann-Marie & Adrian Randle, the new owners of this fantastically located holiday home of which they manage very professionally, was by far the most enjoyable, relaxed and home-from-home.

The accomodation is more than adequate for us and our two 10-year olds, very clean and modern with all the requirements. The pool area is perfect and a good size too. The house overlooks a lock on the Canal du Midi - which you can spend hours watching all the various barges and boats travelling through. Very short driving times to many services, activities and shops and Carcassonne is but a 15 minute drive.

We wish Ann-Marie & Adrian all the very best as the new owners and we are sure they will continue to offer first rate accomodation here for many years to come."

"We would like to thank you for a wonderful holiday in your beautiful cottage. We've had a great week and we didn't miss anything, everything was present here! We also enjoyed the surroundings of Marseillette and the breathtaking landscapes.  Inkie was part of our holiday - we're missing her already.

The swimming pool was also refreshing with the very hot temperatures.

We would recommend everyone to stay in this perfect 'Olive Tree' cottage - In short, a successful holiday with very, very kind and welcoming people.

We wish Ann-Marie, Adrian, Calum, Ethan and Inkie (the dog) all the best here in France."

Well-equipped and comfortable gite in beautiful gardens and a gorgeous location by the Canal du Midi. Views from the poolside are incredible.

The pool was great and the kids loved the table tennis. Extremely convenient for Carcassonne and enjoyed both day and evening visits there.

Ann-Marie, Adrian and the boys made us feel very welcome and were very helpful but never intrusive. Excellent boulangerie/patisserie in the village. Can definitely recommend Olive Tree Cottage for a great holiday.

We have visited Canal View Cottage five years running, which should say it all !
It is the perfect place to unwind & relax. The gites are extremely well equipped & comfortable, and the heated pool is fantastic.
Its location overlooking the canal is perfect. The lock provides great entertainment watching the boats go through & you can always use the free bikes provided to cycle along the tow paths.
There is plenty to see & do in the area - from the very touristy, but unmissable La Cite to small ancient villages, with their excellent markets.
The road network is excellent so larger cities, the coast & the Pyrenees are all easily accessible.
We have also combined a week at the gite with a short stay in Barcelona ( approx 3 hours drive away , but also linked by train I believe) and also with a few nights on a campsite on the coast, both of which we have enjoyed.

We fly into Carcassonne airport using Ryanair, although there are several other low cost flight options. The airport is great, especially on the return leg, when you can have a meal in the restaurant as you await your plane ! The change over days are usually flexible, which is very helpful.

Ken & Pauline are excellent hosts, and are always on hand with helpful advice & suggestions. They are also happy to recommend & book restuarants, which is invaluable in high season. There are plenty of leaflets in the gites with suggestions of places to visit, as well as helpful comments in the visitor's book.

I would particularly recommend the accommodation to families with children. Kids love the pool, the swings, chickens & the two gorgeous dogs. My two children love it so much that they refuse to go anywhere else ! It is ideal for two families holidaying together as you have space when you need it, and the ability to meet at the pool & barbeque together in the evenings, in a safe environment.
I cannot recommend the gites highly enough for a relaxing chilled holiday, with many sight seeing & sporting activities available if required, although those without a car might struggle, as might those with disabilities.

Excellent 2 weeks, very relaxing. We all loved the pool. Carcassonne Plage is a must - great for swimming and diving from the pedalos. The castle is wonderful both during the day and in the evening.... We have loved everthing and look forward to coming back

We've had a wonderful holiday, great views & people. Narbonne is a great place to visit for a day out. Carcassonne has so much to see it will take more than a day to see it all. Our hosts Ken & Pauline made us feel at home and are always on hand for help and advice.

Had a totally lazy holiday. Chilled by the pool, swam and had too much to eat ! Went to Minerve - thought it was quaint and well worth a visit, great views. An excellent addition this year as is the pool heater ! Thanks for having us again - hope to see you again soon

What a perfect spot. So much to do and see and not enough time. Grotte de Cabrespine is a magical experiance. Look forward to coming back to explore the rest of the region. Thanks to Ken & Pauline for being good hosts

2nd Visit to Marseillette & the region is beautiful. Make sure you don't forget the places on your doorstep like Lastours, half an hours drive, 4 castles set into the hills. Also Montsegur or especially Queribus castle. The mountanin scenery is breathtaking. Capendu for "Tour de Marseillette" wine

Had a lovely relaxing week with glorious weather again. Canoeing at Puicheric was great fun. Took 3 hours and we did capsize! Well worth it and you can take a picnic. We did lots of fishing and lazing around the pool again. Saturday market in Carcasssonne town was fab.

After 4 weeks on the road we finally found our haven (or should that be heaven). The gite is superb in every respect, love the decor. The pool was a God-send, especially as the temperature in the afternoons regularly reached 30+. Enjoyed visits to Minerve, The Cite, Lezignan market & Queribus.
